Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a semi-burnt golden to copper color with a finger and a half’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a moderate pace. Slight lace.
The aroma had some orange peel, light bubblegum, light ginger to allspice. Then some earthy spice, some grassiness. Light melon and a touch of resin slide into the backbone.
The flavor yielded to the sweet side of the blend of the bubblegum, orange peel and melon. Allspice and ginger seem barely here. Earthy spice along with the grassiness asserts itself mildly and then most of this follows through in the aftertaste. Not much of any finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good sipping quality about it. Spice doesn’t equate to too much harshness along my tongue, seemed just enough to curb the maltiness trying to cling to my tongue. Felt great.
Overall, really nice Belgian strong ale. Maybe if I’m lucky, I can get sucked up in this vortex and never be heard from ever again.
