Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a fingerโs worth of white foamy head that slid off fairly quick. Light stringy lace.
The aroma had some roasty and toasty tones over top of some light bitter piney needle-like herbal qualities. Slight earthiness.
The flavor leaned towards the roasty and toasty portion. As it warmed, more piney-ness came out but still that was pretty light. Aftertaste was mainly the roastiness. Finishes fairly quick with some roasty malt.
The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. ABV felt appropriate despite almost making me think it was an Imperial. Carbonation felt fine.
Overall, pretty good stout, guessing they wanted this to be a \"Colonial stout.\"
