Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a fairly dark brown close to black color with a quickly dissipating finger’s worth of white foamy head. Sly dissipating rim of lace.
The aroma was super sweet - somewhat reminded me like bread dipped in booze, thick sweet caramel, milk chocolate and vanilla extract. Sweet pecans and almonds. Some light coffee roast at the very end.
The flavor was exceptionally sweet guiding the aftertaste in the same sort of way. Finish was pretty sticky and sweet.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it, but it started getting cloying during my consumption. Carbonation seemed a bit off - I’d say under. ABV did feel appropriate as directed by the brewer.
Overall, reminiscent of Southern Tier’s but this one supposedly had coffee in it. I did get some, but I bet if there was a bit more, it would help pull down the \"cloying\" effects that were going on. I wanted to sing Def Lepard’s \"Pour Some Sugar On Me\" while drinking this, but hey, probably would be better I replaced \"sugar\" with pour some more \"coffee\" in this beer.
