Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a semi-burnt copper to almost brown color with a rust colored film of a little white semi-foamy head. Lace was light and sliding.
The aroma started with a huge roastiness to it. Then some chestnuts, earthiness, leather and a little bit of toast round it all out.
The flavor moderately leaned towards the roasty side, some sweetness came in and combined fairly nice. Aftertaste was a dry woody and roasty quality. Finish was abrupt and dry.
The feel was about medium bodied with a decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Pretty smooth along my tongue.
Overall, I liked this one as a brown ale, but didn’t really get any of the supposedly \"barrel\" notes in this.
