7.5/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 8 Flavor 8 Texture 6 Overall 7
Bottle from my parents.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a sort of hazy copper color with a nice finger’s worth of white foamy head that glistened and slid off at a gentle pace. Not much lace, somewhat stringy and sliding.
The aroma had a sweet to sour green apple up front. Slight pears, a touch of floral, sly sweet wood, hint of earthiness, slight grassiness, super light evergreen and a little bit of vanilla all create a nice balance underneath.
The flavor was sour at first and developed the sweet with the wood, vanilla and pear as it opened up a bit more. Gentle semi-sour aftertaste with a clean sour to sweet finish.
The palate was almost medium bodied, seemed just a touch under making this somewhat sessionable as the \"sour\" doesn’t create an overly abrasive feel over my tongue. ABV felt just a tad hot, but I see that this is still a bit \"young\" in it’s age.
Overall, for the most part, this is a real winner and will only get better in time. Just need my parents to send another bottle (things I miss of Pennsylvania), oh well.
