The appearance was a semi-dark mahogany color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white foamy head that slid off into oblivion to leave barely any lace.
The aroma had some truffle-like cakey sweetness, some peaches, light black cherries, little bit of earthy/leather sweetness, driftwood, light basement and some butterscotch at the end.
The flavor was moderately sweet, really malt forward. Dry sort of malty aftertaste and finish.
The palate was just a touch under medium bodied, still leaning towards more of a sipping sort of quality about it. Carbonation felt fine.
Overall, well, hmmmmm....I’ve had better barleywines and honestly, I couldn’t tell if this was American or English.
