Bake Club - Coconut Custard Pie

Refrigerated pint can poured into a glass mug. Black with beige head. Aroma is coconut, medium/thick body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is coconut (kinda artificial) and chocolate.

A pint can obtained from Half Time in NY late last year. I have my Buffalo Bayou snifter in place and take the pour. A very thick, very dark liquid topped by a now and gone cover of mahogany brown foam. The nose is heavy with coconut and chocolate. Lift the glass for a drink and there is plenty of coconut, grain, some chocolate, almonds and vanilla. I’ve found coconut difficult to get right as an adjunct in a beer, it’s often artificial tasting. A rather sweet brew, no surprise in that. There’s a proper denseness, always good in an imperial stout. Good enough effort best I can say.

Black with a medium sized foamy brown head that faded quickly. Intensely boozy with strong toasted coconut, vanilla and chocolate. Exceptionally long finish. Full bodied

One Stop advent calendar 6/24. They’re doing the heavy hitters on the weekends on purpose, aren’t they? Coconut, coconut, and more coconut. It’s good but too much coconut for me.
