Tap at drunk uncle. Minty and thick , but it works rather well. Fudge covered candy canes, some nestle quik, candy. Quite drinkable for the ABv. The original pastry gang does it better still. 8oz is more than enough. I’m sure I had this before via husom but backlogged. Good.

2015 and 2016 Vintages Vertical Tasting Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, one to two centimetre tall rich brown head that stays afloat for a while. Aroma of deep spices with nutmeg, canella, nuts, vanilla, lactose, coffee and especially anise/licorice throughout here with a lot of malts, alcohol, yeast and pungency, without much mild qualities or room to hide from the pungency - this is quite potent, and while the five year old bottle was a bit more mild, it was still very strong in the nose. Medium to Full-bodied; Very strong earthy, nutty, grainy and especially spicey flavours dominate with a ton of anise, licorice, coffee, lactose, nutmeg, canella and prune flavours - this one is very strong with a bunch of chocolate malts towards the end that don't hide the alcohol in the slightest bit in either batch, but the 2015 bottle is a good deal smoother than the 2016 batch. Aftertaste shows some deep robust qualities with the chocolate, lactose, alcohol, metallic notes and especially the spices that don't give any leniency, even at the end - this is pungent to the finish and not for the faint of heart, and probably not for any normal human being to sample two of these at the same time, even in the small format! Overall, definitely not one of my favourite beers and much too spicey and pungent for the style and the licorice, chocolate and earthiness just don't blend well to me and don't settle well over time - this is deep and robust, in a not-so-good way. It wasn't awful, but I wasn't a fan of either batch and of the two, the 2015 was a good deal better than the 2016 batch. I sampled these two 33 cL bottles at the same time on Christmas Day (after all the madness) on 25-December-2020 at my house here in Washington a few hours before leaving on Christmas Vacation 2020 with my family. The 2015 bottle was purchased at Whole Foods in New York (Columbus Circle), New York on 27-November-2015 for US$9,99 and the 2016 bottle was purchased at Super Market Liqours in Fort Collins, Colorado on 17-March-2016 for US$6,99, and since that time I saw the current batch (2020 Vintage) on sale and passed up on it entirely due to me not liking either of these two.

Bottle from Holiday Market. Pours a pitch black with a finger of brown head that lingers. Lovely cinnamon, chocolate and clove notes on the nose. Everything in its right place. Smooth on the palate, rich chocolate and Christmas spices.

2019 bottle. Flat black pour with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly to a film. Sparse patches of lace. Aroma of malt, spice and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, chocolate, cinnamon, vaninlla and coffee. The finish is roasty with a chocolate malt and cinnamon aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Never disappoints despite the ingredients not sounding too tasty, ginger nutmeg cinnamon. Their base stout is so good they could (and they do I guess) put anything in it and it's still great. Perfect mouthfeel and ginger cinnamon loaves.
