Tis But a Scratch was first brewed in collaboration with Cambridge CAMRA volunteers for the 2025 Cambridge Beer Festival, celebrating 50 years of Monty Python’s The Holy Grail.

What began as a one-off festival creation quickly captured the hearts (and pints) of festival-goers, going on to be crowned Beer of the Festival — a true testament to its rich character and easy-drinking charm.

This Old English Ale pours a deep, dark brown, revealing sweet, malty aromas and flavours reminiscent of toffee and soft caramel. With minimal hop presence, the malt takes centre stage, offering a smooth, rounded sweetness that lingers pleasantly on the palate. Comforting, classic, and full of warmth, Tis But a Scratch is best savoured slowly — a well-deserved winner born of collaboration and tradition.

Brewed at Buntingford Brewery and bottled by Xtreme Brewery, Peterborough.

6/2/2026. Cask at the 16th Elysian Winter Beer Festival. Very nice aroma. Chocolate, malty, rye, biscuit. Nice bittersweet taste. Drying finish. Enjoyed this. For me one of the best cask beers at the festival.
