Robust Porter

Bakers chocolate, toffee, caramel, toasted bread, and light herbal spice.

Featuring bigger notes of roast, caramel, and baker’s chocolate, Dark Oast brings out the characteristics of a big porter in a very drinkable format. We also brewed this with wheat and rye grown right here onsite. The rye backs up the roasted flavors with a clean grain spice.

Can from CBC, Westford. Opaque black, nice sparkle, thin head with good retention, trace lacing. Aroma is sweet roasted malt, brown bread, caramel. Taste is strong, roasted, earthy malt, brown bread, light spice. Smooth, creamy texture, soft carbonation, dry finish as taste. Nice Porter. Didn't get the Baker's chocolate but other elements there.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to becher glass.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a one finger khaki foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: roasted malts, coffee roastiness; clean caramel scents; subtle cocoa powder
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas together to a balanced roasty, toasty and semi-sweet approach; mild aftertaste of coffee, cocoa powder and caramel
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; nice smoothness to roasty balance on the tongue; finishes very well balanced between the roast and the sweet (that's how you get a porter done right, boys and girls!)
Overall: who would have thought - one of Massachusetts smallest breweries knows how to get a porter done right and how long have they been brewing? Mind boggling to think there are breweries brewing way longer than these guys and they still can't get a good porter down.
