Can to thistle.
Appearance: dark brown in the pour and dark brown in the glass. Three finger off white foamy head took it's time to slide off then leave some subtle lace
Aroma: strong caramel/toffee malts up front, fair amount of earthy tones; the herbal and floral quality is there and some noticeable "booziness"
Flavor: wraps up the prior noted aromas and leaving out the "boozy" quality to a fairly sweet tone; finishes caramel/toffee and semi-boozy
Texture: medium bodied, trying to be a sipper, I think....hmmmmm, fairly smooth along the tongue but once again the booziness is noticeable
Overall: some things need to be re-worked such as for a true style of this we need that "peaty to smoky" aroma and flavoring then that "booziness" needs to be tamed, the ABV doesn't need to be changed, just the fact that maybe if the peaty character was added and possibly something in the malt bill added, it could be more balanced and that ABV wouldn't be so noticeable, just my two cents.
