Brewed in recognition of one of Vermont’s most storied Army units, which repeatedly answered the Nation’s call, participating in over 20 campaigns from the Civil War to the War on Terror. This big dark amber ale is reminiscent of the stock ales of old, striking a delicate balance between high levels of malty sweetness and American Hops. Join us in paying homage to the heroes of 1st Vermont - past, present and future by raising a glass of this full-bodied ale.

Can to snifter.
Appearance is as shown in the picture.
Aroma: caramel/toffee malts up front with some bitter dry leafy/earthy to floral hoppy notes; slight cherry wood with a super light apple sweetness underneath that then subtle tobacco tones
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a variety of different sweet features with a substantial bittering dry rolling malty quality; finishes somewhat sticky with a dry bitterness and earthy-ish note
Texture: medium bodied; good as a sipper; some smoothness but definitely fairly dry; good carb level
Overall: I can see this as a Strong Ale, whether an American one or an English one, maybe that's up for debate. I'd return to this either way.
