The first American, Ben Franklin, turns 300 this month... We’e brewing a beer Franklin wishes he culd have had in his day: 100% baley malt and hops grown soley in America. The only thing he wouldn’t approve of is its style name: an Imperial Red Ale. Oops.

On tap at the brewery 1-18-06. Deep reddish brown with a small tan head. Malty aroma- slightly nutty, slightly metallic... Flavor is of a red ale, mixed a bit with a brown, and having a hint of alcohol there. Slightly sweet, but it doesn’t linger. Decent.
