12 oz bottle from Buy Rite. Dark brown pour with a thin, light brown head and some drippy, spotty lacing. Spice, rye, and malt. Some dry roast coffee. Bit of smoke as well. Solid flavor and mouthfeel. Average to lively carbonation, finishes with a bit a spicy tingle. Fairly long close.

Bottle. It pours black with a small light brown head. The aroma is chocolaty and roasted. A little smoky. The flavor is the same. It has some dense breadiness with some spicy hop bitterness. Chocolaty with hints of smoke and roasted malt. Good full oily body, no doubt because of the rye. I’m a sucker for rye porters. Love the body it gives them.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from One Stop Market, Haverhill, MA. Aroma is dark fruits, roast/ash, chocolate, vanilla. Appearance is very dark brown (almost opaque) with 1/2 finger-width light brown head with poor retention and no lasting lacing. Taste is moderately sweet roasted flavor and chocolate with mild bitterness/ash at the end. Palate is medium to full-bodied with thick, slightly sticky texture, lively carbonation, hint of spiciness and mix of sweet/bitter finish. Overall, a really nice beer.

Got this from butters_mcgee. 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/9/2015. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, spicy rye, light smoke, light citrus/dark fruit, herbal, floral, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, spicy rye, light smoke, light citrus/dark fruit, herbal, floral, and roasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, spicy rye, light smoke, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate amount of dryness from roasted bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice American rye porter style. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Draft. Dark pour with a large foamy head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was malty, grainy, a hint of wood smoke, bread and an underlying sweetness. The flavor was sweet, malty, bread, cracker, honey, orange and a bit of wood smoke. Medium length finish. Medium body. Pleasant.

Bottle at home during random tick grab. Pours deep brown and black with small head. Nose if coffee and light rye spice. Tastes of coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, rye, earth, hint of root beer. Not overly spicy but rye give some bitterness on finish.

12oz bottle. First time I think I’ve ever heard of Sybilla hops. Unfiltered looking deep amber brown body. Thin, quick fading beige head. Roasty chocolate rye aroma. Almost comes off like a coffee beer at times, lots of roast malt tones. On the lighter side of full bodied. Sweet Chocolate Rye beer, big sugary brown malt notes.
