We looked to acclaimed Chef José Andrés to help us create a Spanish take on the farmhouse style saison. The addition of Lemon Verbena, pink peppercorn, sumac, and dried lime infuse the chef’s distinctive flavors into the brew – an ale purposefully crafted to compliment all your culinary endeavors. Or be savored all by itself.

Draft - Sweet herbal and peppery notes with a touch of vinegar. Clear gold with almost no head. Sweet peppery notes and a sweet light vinegar finish. Nice.

On tap at Fat Heads Portland. Pours a clear orange with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is fruity malt and yeast. Medium mouth, herbal, citrus, light spice, good.

Bottle: Bright golden orange color, smallish white(ish) head that quickly disappears. Nose is light yeast, somewhat fruity and dry. Some of the lemon and peppercorns poke through. Clean taste, lighty dry. Effervescent. Minimal lime and peppercorns. I like the finish being dry and hints at margarita salt. Different, good.

Hazy golden coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall white head. Aroma of peppercorn, coriander seed, grass, hay and a bit of light funk. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal flavour with a good deal of hops noticeable coupled with a little yeastie funk as well, but the spices are by far the strongest. Aftertaste shows a bit of sweetness from honey and caster sugar and a little grassy hops coupled with the large spice and coriander seed flavour. Overall, a decent saison with a large spice presenc that would pair well with a decent amount of Jose Andres’ foods. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Penagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 16-December-2014 for US$8,99 sampled at home in Washington on 05-April-2015, a few steps away from a Jose Andres restaurant.

[2/27/15] Draught at Deschutes Brewery & Public House in Portland. Clear copper. Aroma of spice, fruity esters and candy notes. Flavor is spicy and mildly sweetish, with nice fruitiness, lemon zest, a tart note and a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

Bomber. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Gold, with a light haze. Film of white head. Lots of fine carbonation. Toasty, bready malts. Slightly floral. Definitely get the pepper. Soft, sweet funk. Drinks a little sweet. Turns dry, and spicy. Some tartness on the palate. Moderate body. Finishes spicy, and a little sweet. Drinkable enough, though there’s not too much going on.

Draft at GABBF: Poured a hazy yellow to golden with white head. Aroma was zesty citrus and yeast. Taste was a weird soapy dish water and strong belgian yeast esters.

slightly sour fruity nose. I would say some fruit is added, perhaps tropica fruit. Not too sour or hoppy, really interesting.

Bottle says Best by date of 04/07/15.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a slightly hazy burnt orange color with an ample amount of carbonation to be seen rising. The head was about a slim finger’s worth of white foaminess. Barely any lacing stuck but mainly slid into the body.
The smell had a deep bready yet lemon zest and sweet to a slight extent. Light peppercorn rounds out the aroma.
The taste was full and bready with the full zesty lemon and peppercorn to come and give a slight spice to it. There’s barely an aftertaste but is slightly sweet and zesty lemon with a light breadiness about it. The finish is slightly dry and sticky.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed to be good for the style and for me - slightly smooth and sticky.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good saison that I could have again.
