We looked to acclaimed Chef José Andrés to help us create a Spanish take on the farmhouse style saison. The addition of Lemon Verbena, pink peppercorn, sumac, and dried lime infuse the chef’s distinctive flavors into the brew – an ale purposefully crafted to compliment all your culinary endeavors. Or be savored all by itself.

Sample at GABF 10/03/2014, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Pours a slightly cloudy orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of malt, yeast and fruit. Medium body with flavors of herbal yeast, fruit and bready malt. The finish is fruity and malty. Decent overall.

Medium gold colour with a small head of foam that shrinks very quickly. There’s none now.

I get cloves and coriander but bigger notes of lime and some lemon and something that smells really dry.

Wow. The taste is just like it smells but impresses me even more. The lime and lemon sure do compliment the "normal" flavors you expect from the style. I DO get the peppercorns mentioned on the label and. ..there’s a candi sugar like sweetness that goes well with the drying that comes from the lime and lemon.

Fairly light bodied with lightish carbonation.

This is outstanding and very easy to drink.

On tap at PIB, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of grassy notes upfront, along with some corn. Flavour is very uneventful, with corn and grass. Tastes like a pretty typical lager, with no complexity. Drinkable but boring.

Draught @ Deschutes, Portland, OR

Pours hazy yellow with a tiny head. Aroma of yeast, fruits, citrus, lemon and earthy notes. Taste is stuffy, fruity and yeasty with some citrus and lemon. Finish is sweet, juicy and yeasty. A bit unbalanced.
