Old Growth was first laid to rest in retired Heaven Hill bourbon barrels during the winter of 2021. Over the course of nearly 2 years it slowly matured as it seeped in and out of the bourbon soaked staves over the change of each subsequent season. Prior to packaging, it was blended with a younger stout and left to mature in the bottle until the time was right. Expect complex notes of dark chocolate, tobacco, raisin, bourbon and plenty of oak.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: very dark brown color with a finger's worth of tan foamy head which dissipated inward to leave some light lace
Aroma: woody sweet/bourbon barrel notes, light char, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, dark fruits, subtle vanilla, and mild sweet earthy scents
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a semi-spicy to sweet and earthy quality, light finish of milk chocolate and woody/barrel notes
Texture: medium to full bodied, this is a sipper! Really good smoothness on the tongue, the spicy woody notes seem to be nondescript
Overall: an extremely well done barrel impy stout more than worthy of coming back to.
