All British and malt forward, this brown ale is autumn cask lushness in a glass. Three dark malts provide this rich base, chocolate, brown and crystal combine for a nutty biscuit base. Keeping it all UK, fresh-in-tank British hop Phoenix builds with signature chocolate and dark sweetness.

Cask at Curious Gnome, Chester. Pours “bitter brown” with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. There’s oranges and floral hops in the aroma. In the mouth it is quite sweet with a little underlying bitterness. A general fruitiness is the first sensation to hit the taste buds, with more discrete flavours of autumn fruits, floral hops and tangerine following on behind. This is decent – but may require a rerate as it was served far too cold !
