Düsseldorf is famous for the Radschläger, or cartwheeler, and also for its fantastic altbiers! Our Altbier is amber in colour with a light creamy head. It’s rich and complex with a perfect balance of Noble hop bitterness and sweet nutty malt ensuring it still retains a great drinkability. This style is nearly 200 years old, and it’s easy to taste why it has enjoyed such enduring popularity.

Can from Raynville Superstore. It pours clear brown with a decent white head. The aroma is earthy, woody, brown bread, bitter - sweet character, touch of vola, dried fruits, toasted grains and fruit cake. The taste is firm, dry, bitter - sweet, toasty grains, brown bread, ryvita, wood, leather, hint of cacao nibs/coffee beans and toasty spice with a drying finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Tastes a lot like an ESB, or somewhere between there and an alt bier. Drinks well. Not a huge amount of depth to it, but it is well rounded.

440ml can from Mitchell Wines Meadowhead - clear brown body with a short lived white top. Caramel forward, malty, citrus toffee notes and very light on the aftertaste.

Can picked up from Hereford Beer House and consumed at Mum and Keith's, Monday 2nd March 2026 listening to Anna von Hausswolff - Iconoclasts and cooking a Leek and Potato Soup. Pours amber/actually mid brown with an off white head. Pleasant maltiness throughout with touches of caramel and toffee, nice smoothness, good mouthfeel. A fruity tang, reminds me a lot of a classic english ESB, biscuit maltiness, hops are a little berry and hedgerow. Nice beer, very nice. Score 7.5

Foamy off white head left a creamy top on a clear copper coloured body.
Malt, spiced & toffee aroma.
Medium bodied, smooth & creamy with a lively clean back.
Sweet malt, biscuit, caramel & berry tastes with a peppery tangy lightly hopped finish.
Nice.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines. Clear amber. Very decent thick just off white foam. Nose has bread crust. Some vine fruit. Bit of walnut. Taste is semi sweet with moderate lightly peppery bitterness. Drinks great overall. Smooth with good body. Light semi sweet semi bitter finish. Thornbridge really are good across all styles in my very humble opinion.
