Kentucky Honey Barrel Brown Ale is a barrel-aged brown ale brewed with ginger and Kentucky honey.

As every drop of the ale is aged in fresh bourbon barrels, the caramel and vanilla flavors of the barrel are imparted upon the beer and balance with the spiciness of the ginger. At 10 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), this malty, limited release seasonal makes for a flavorful sipping beer to enjoy during the holiday season.

BARREL-AGED SEASONAL SERIES — Nestled in the heart of bourbon country where bourbon barrels outnumber people, Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company produces a Barrel-Aged Seasonal Series that capitalizes on its close proximity to the region and the changing taste preferences of the seasons. All of these beers are produced in Kentucky, aged in freshly decanted Kentucky bourbon barrels, 100% barrel-aged, and produced in bourbon barrels only used once.

From a bottle this is quite strong viscous and medicinal. Alarmingly sweet and volatile on the nose. Dark thick strong ale fer sure, lots of personality. Dulling my senses as I near the middle of the bottle. So large and in charge. Difficult sweet near cloying episode of an ending. Go figger.

Bottle, thanks to Toby. A chestnut brown pour with a small beige cap. Sweet aroma of honey and bourbon, malty. Flavor is one the sweeter side with lots of bourbon coming through. Seems the base beer might be pretty sturdy, lots of maltiness and mild roast.

Sampled forma 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with red highlights and a medium sized foamy brown head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was a disgusting off mix of cedar, perfume and insecticide. The flavor was oak, hone, perfume, cedar, a hint of caramel and an off insecticide presence. Unfortunately long finish. Medium body. Awful.

bottle - This brew smells like bourbon, alcohol, and caramel malt. It has a sweet, bourbon rich flavor with caramel, honey, and maybe a little vanilla. Boozy. I knew this one would be sweet, but it’s still a bit sweeter than I’d like. It’s fairly good anyway.

Bottle. Lactic toffee malt and alcohol aroma. Chestnut brown with light tan head. Sweet toffee malt and strong bitter herbal alcohol flavor. Very rough - like a boilermaker using Old Crow bourbon and Shiner Bock.
