A full-flavoured, medium-bodied red ale, Rickard's features a slight hoppy bitterness balanced with candy-like caramel malt sweetness. Brewed using a signature Munich malt with a touch of brewer's caramel to create a striking, ruby red appearance and a bold, refreshing taste. A perfect complement to grilled meats.

Bottle. Copper red with large spongy beige head, faint malt aroma, slightly sweet caramel taste, medium carbonation, abrupt finish. Not a very inspiring beer.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a red-caramel color with a medium sized foamy white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweetish and malty. The flavor was sweet, malty, a bit of toffee and dark fruit. Medium finish. Medium body and smooth. Ok.

On tap at the only restaurant I could find in Harvre St Pierre. Reddish copper color. Bready sweet caramel maltiness, little to no hops. Not horrible.

Draught @ Outback Steakhouse, Niagara Falls, ON
Pours clear amber with a small off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel and hint of grass. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with a long caramel finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap. A clear amber colored beer topped by a dense, light beige head. The aroma has a light touch of bread, caramel and some nuts and dried fruits. It’s rather thin on the palate, with a soft carbonation, dry. Not much bitterness or sweetness going on, but at least there’s some caramel and nuts. Short finish. Quite forgettable this one. 150613

On tap at Boston Pizza, Williams Lake, BC.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance was a hazy burnt red with a slight transparency about it. The head was slim and centered in the middle as a little lump. Decent looking rings graced the glass as the beer goes down.
The smell had a nice sweet to roasty blend of caramel malts with nuts.
The taste copied the smell. A light sweet nutty aftertaste lead to a sweet wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Nicely carbonated and a remaining smooth feel rolls over my tongue.
Overall, for the style this works. I’d have it again.

12oz Can, dark red. 1 finger dark yellow head. Aroma is sweet, like cream corn and some weird pickle aroma, lots of burnt malt. Pretty smooth taste, cherry, old fruit, malts, etc. it’s a stange brew. unexciting but not awful.

Clear medium dark copper brown with minimal off white head. Grainy with the subtlest hint of caramel malt. More or less a pale macro lager.
