A German "Dunkel" (dark) brewed as a Lager with Two Row Malt, Munich Malt and some Roasted Malts. Spiced up with German Hops from the Hallertau and a German Lager Yeast gives this Brew a nice dunkel (dark) color and some Malt sweetness with a nice finish of balanced Hops and a little chocolaty taste for the finish.

12 oz. bottle purchased at Total Wine in Denton, TX. Pours a dark root beer color with a small beige head and fair retention. Almost no lacing. Roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt flavor to match the nose, with just a hint of smoke. Clean, sweet and rich. Low carbonation. No bitterness. Super easy drinking. Delicious.

Draught in Dallas at a couple of spots. I enjoyed this and found the rich malt to be pleasing. Crisp finish.

Keg at Ginger Man, Plano. Clear mahogany colour, small head. Rich coffee aroma. Mid dry with light-medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Coffee and toast. Mid bitter grassy finish. While the malt character does not up to my expectations from the brewery name it is a pretty good dunkel, on the roasty side.

Nitro draft shaker at Anvil Pub in Dallas, Texas. The pour is a brown copper with a solid unmoving one inch tan head. The aroma is sweet vanilla caramel, along with a bit of office coffee. Basically coffee and cream. The taste is nutty caramel malt, sweet and not much else. The palate is the silky nitro smooth mouthfeel though still somewhat thin in the body. Cleanish sweet finish. This one didn’t totally do it for me.

Bottle: (gusher.....dammit...) Pours a glass full of tan foam....with a slooooowly appearing dark brown liquid at the bottom....and so.....we wait..... Rich chocolate malt aroma.... Sweet caramel, dark chocolate malt, creamy flavour....Thick and full bodied.....worth the wait for the head to recede.

Bottle. Coffee, chocolate malt and hay aroma. Dark brown with large tan head. Sweet chocolate malt and moderately bitter herbal quinine flavor. Good body. Good - very hoppy for a dunkel.

Draft on the brewery tour: Poured a marbled brown with an off white to light beige head. Aroma is roasted malts and sweet. Taste is nice blend of toffee, caramel, and roasted malts. There is nothing better than drinking a fresh dunkel at the source.
