Draft - Bitter chocolate and coffee. Jet black with a rich brown head. Chocolate and coffee, decent but pretty average.

2014 RBWG Draft at the French Broad tasting room. Black pour, no head. Aroma of cocoa and roast malt. The flavor follows the aroma. Starts sweet with some dryness towards the finish.

Draft at brewery. Pours dark brown/tan head. Nose and taste of cocoa nib, coffee and light roast. Medium body.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a near black with an earthy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a bit of coffee and bitter chocolate but is mainly dark grains and bread. Flavor is full of bitter chocolate with a backbone of earthy dark grains.

On tap @ French Broad. Pours a deep reddish appearance with a brown head. Coffee, bitter chocolate, and earth in the nose. Some anise in the flavor. Moderate bitterness. Chocolate. Fine.

Draft at Brewvival 2012. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin brown head that quickly fades. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, bitter hops that linger. Medium-full bodied. Nice beer.
