Bottle. Dark brown with reddish tint, beige spongy head with long retention, light caramel aroma, slightly bitter caramel-mocha taste, high carbonation, medium finish with caramel aftertaste. The high alcohol content is nicley masked; quite easy to drink.

Draft at Churchkey’s 5th anniversary, courtesy of Bryan’s friend and Eric, thanks! Opaque dark brown color, bright tan head. Aroma of lightly funky coffee. Taste is cocoa, coffee, just enough of a touch of funk to be noticeable but not overwhelming. Light body. Nice one.

4 oz draft pour at ChurchKey during the Kosmic Mother Funk Grand Cru Launch Party. Black with off-white head. Aromas of chocolate, light tart notes, light oak. Tastes of chocolate, oak, light licorice, herbs, light tart dark fruit and wine. Medium-full body with a dry finish.

750ml wacky non-sleek bottle. Black brown body. Brutal aroma, sweet and past its prime. The oak just adds an oily slickness to the whole mess of a beer. Not unlike a milk stout in its sweet sugary forwardness, but with the neutered SA Belgian yeast, and some coffee and spices. Not unbearably bad, but pretty shabby. Oily specialty malt oaky residues. Not worthy of the premium price. Disappointing.

Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, bubblegum, yeast, banana, dried fruits, grass, hay, almond essence, flowers, dark malts, alcohol. Taste is slightly harsh sour-ish grassy, yeast, harsh grass, alcohol, almond essence, oak, dried fruits, banana, flowers, dark malts. Medium bitterness, harsh mouthfeel. Meh!

Aroma: The nose of this is heavy dark fruit, smells quite sweet, chocolate, and wood/oak
Appearance:It pours a dark brown color, with a fizzy beige head and streaky lace
Flavor: Tastes rather sweet too, dark fruit, cherry, some chocolate, spice, and a mild bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, with a pretty fizzy carbonation, and a tingly, spiced finish
Overall Impression: For some reason I found this beer hard to process. I'm not entirely sure how I felt about it, nor am I sure exactly what kind of beer this is. I would almost call it a quad stout? That doesn't really make sense, but it's the flavor/feel that I'm getting from this beer. Sam Adams has some great bottles for these barrel room beers too. Showing off that biggest "micro" money. Anyway, I guess I just have to give this beer a mixed review, because I don't know how I feel. I'll score it here...

Part of the Barrel Room Collection at the LCBO. Pours a dark brown colour, looking like cola. Beige head is creamy, has good retention and thick creamy lace. Mild aromas of chocolate and roasted malts. Also, yeast and maybe wheat giving out banana notes. Hints of alcohol. The taste starts off sour, so not sure if suppose to be this way, or infected (never had one of those from this good brewer). You can also taste some burnt malts (smokey oak) and light spices. I think the sourness took over the coffee, as I cannot detect any. A disappointing finish to the trio.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks avrashi. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma of lots of dark fruits, mild funk, oak, a light chocolate hint and a bit of alcohol. Sweetish flavor with dark fruits, caramel, oak, light sourish funky notes and a slightly alcoholic finish. Medium-bodied. Tastes more like a barrel aged Quad than an Imperial Stout.

Weak imperial stout. More boozy, sweet and sugary than anything else. Some fruit in the end, raspberry but nothing special. Pours black without any head or lacing - pours like coca cola. Finishes sweet with a touch of bitterness. Some roast malt but even that’s a stretch here. LCBO in three pack.
