With clear notes of espresso, dark chocolate and a hint of authentic Icelandic coffee, this Porter is dark and rich, offering a medium body that is robust, yet smooth on the palate and easy to drink. There’s no need to be afraid of the dark anymore.

Black pour with tan foam. Coffee nose. Black coffee flavor with a roasted nut palate.

Can, big and black with a big choco moose rocky head. Taste is fine and dandy, a good example of a well behaved porter. Yes, so many stupid straight up ass IPA that this is a refreshing turn of events. Yes, a very friendly well behaved welcome addition to my tasting repertoire.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a slightly muddied glow and a very thin, single centimetre tall tan and off-white head that fades very quickly, as well. Aroma of toasted malt, earth, nuts, caramelised sugars, a dash of peated malt and some light lactose and creamy notes - but fairly mild for the style without too much bitterness arising from the nose. Light to Medium-bodied; Deep bitter roasted malt notes dominate with some pitted fruits, prunes, raisins and earthiness coming out towards the end, with a large creamy and lactose quality along with some caramlised sugar and toffee flavours, all ending with a grainy and peated malt note that shows a bunch of the earth. Aftertaste shows the deeper, more fragrant malts with some of the toast, the grain, the molasses and earthy flavours with a good deal of peanuts and walnuts, but some smoother sugars from the pitted fruit notes at the very end make this nice and rounded, especially for the style. Overall, a good enough beer, still not one of the better options in terms of complexities, as this is very straight-forward and not offering anything unusual or nuanced, but the typical flavours are there, the body is nice and the smoothness definitely persists, but that could be from keeping this 2+ years, of course. I sampled this 33 cL bottle, purchased on my last trip ever to New Beer Distributors in New York, New York (one of the best shops ever) on 24-February-2018 for US$2,75 sampled at my house here in Washington on 11-May-2020.

Lukt kaffe, malt. Smak kaffe, malt, røstet malt, lakris. Fin porter med godt balansert bitterhet og smak, føles ikke sterk. Smakt Sept 2016
