A collaboration beer with Springbank Distillery. A golden beer with a slight peat aroma, nice mellow peat taste and very drinkable.

This beer was made in collaboration with our neighbours at the Springbank Distillery. The beer was made using Springbank’s lightly peated malt. This is the first of several collaborations we are going to do with Springbank.

Cask at The Hanging Bat. Pours clear gold, thick white head. Nice smoke aromas, little meatiness, taste has a lighter smoke alongside sweet malts. rich mouthfeel. Good.

Cask at the Hanging Bat. Pours golden, smoky nose, peat, toffee, taste is chewy, oats, dry peat, dry toffee, light floral fruit, maybe a little thin.

Cask at CBI, London on 23rd June 2013. Clear amber with dying head and no lacing. Rich malt aroma. Biscuit malts and pipesmoke in-mouth. Spicy, oaky malts in finish with smoke and caramel. Interesting ale.

Cask at the Cask, Pimlico, 13/06/13 - badged as ’Fynebank’. Clear pale golden with a thin off white head. Nose is pale malts, grass, grain, orange. Taste comprises bitter orange, grass, toasted malt, light smoke presence, sugars. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry finish with a little lingering smokiness.

Cask at CP&K, Pimlico as "Fynebank". It pours clear golden with a medium white head. The nose is earthy, sweet dough, sponge cake, zesty citrus, sugar and faint medicinal notes. The taste is earth, peat, medicinal notes, dough, floral, spice, wood and faint whisky (perhaps my imagination) with a very dry finish indeed. Medium body and soft carbonation. Interesting, easy enough drinking, but I can’t say I’m blown away by it.

Old Fountain. Cask. Pumpclip says ’Fynebank - Peat Smoked Golden Ale - Brew No 1.’ Light haze on this gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is smooth and light and dry. A very mild sulphur streak that for me is all too common is Golden Ales. I was expecting the peat smoke to dominate, it doesn’t! Really quite mellow and well integrated. Super mild hops - light orange squash. Finishes semi dry, strangely drinkable!
