Set your senses ablaze with Tinder, a smoldering Rauchbier that kindles moderately malty sweetness and robust smokiness. Brewed with Bamberg beechwood-smoked malt, this medium-bodied lager ignites distinct campfire smoke flavors and aroma.

Bottle shared at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Hazy golden with a big frothy white head. Lovely smoked sausages aroma with a hoppy hints. Malty flavor, sweetish, with smoked sausages, campfire, mild fruitiness and a bit of bitter hops. Rounded mouthfeel. Very good and well-made.

750 c&c shared by Marcus. Pours golden amber with an off-white head. Aroma is smoked porcine hide (or belly). Med body. It is smoky. More smoke than your average bacon. Gets mellow with time. Probably best to drink it with seasoned meats or good sausages.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Bottled on 1/08/14. Honey gold color topped by a huge rocky white head. Big smoked malt aroma with a touch of sweet honey. First sip yields a pleasant smoky sweet toasted malt flavor that displays notes of honey, rye and lemongrass. Very nicely done. A faithful rendition of the classic German style, though a notch below the originals.

C&C 750 mL bottle from Beer Run. Pours a clear vibrant amber color with a large foamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of strong smoke with some caramel, apple and mild citrus. The taste is strong smoke, almost bitter, nuts, caramel, stone fruit. Medium bodied, lingering smoke. Decent.

Pours deep amber into a stein, Tan head with excellent retention recedes leaving trailing spiders to mound surface. Caramel and smoke aromas. Crisp with sweet caramel and toffee upfront turning to smoky bacon before the clean, lasting earth and roasted nut finish. Becomes cloying after a while which docks the score a bit...

750 thanks to the always generous Craig. Pours a clear copper color with a large white head. A light crisp smoky nose, some toffee. Smooth, sweet malts, a bit of pine and perfume, rich but mellow smoke. The beer drinks like a damn nice German lager. Very drinkable. Oddly we get a lot of stronger smoked beers, but this hits it correctly I think. Excellent. Super clean.

750ml bottle picked up at the brewery
Pours cloudy golden/amber with a medium sized off-white head and spotty lacing. Aroma is smokey, bacon and spices. The flavor is smokey, caramel, bacon, ashes, finishes nice meaty bitterness (black pepper)
A nice Rauchbier, plenty of smoke and meaty but not so overpowering that you don’t want another sip. This would be great with bbq or when camping.
