Set your senses ablaze with Tinder, a smoldering Rauchbier that kindles moderately malty sweetness and robust smokiness. Brewed with Bamberg beechwood-smoked malt, this medium-bodied lager ignites distinct campfire smoke flavors and aroma.

An interesting beer to be sure. Kind of mixes the smoked elements with some nice light sourness. Pours a cloudy golden with good head and lacing. Smoked meat taste. Comes together well, better than many smoked beers I"ve had.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours hazy pale amber with a rather big frothy and bubbly offwhite head that leaves lots of spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly smokey with rustic dark bread, biscuits, smoked meats, moist hay, burnt wood, brine, clay, butterscotch and hints of lemon zest. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter, slightly malty and smokey with sourdough bread, cured ham, smoked sausage, moist hay, steamed vegetables, burnt wood, butterscotch hard candy and hints of lemon zest. Mouthfeel is soft, round and light to medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet, tiny bitter, tiny malty and smokey with sourdough bread, smoked sausage, moist hay, burnt wood, lemon zest, fennel and hints of butterscotch hard candy and persimmon. Solid smoked lager…

Corked and caged 750mL bottle pours with a crystal clear copper body that has golden hues and supports a tall light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up slivers of mild smoke, a sweet malt to wheat note followed by a modest degree of apple to pear like fruity esters. The taste begins with an apple like flash of fruit ester sweetness and then it leads quickly to modest smooth smokiness. The fruity esters create a bit of an out of place sensation as i struggle to find and enjoy the mild smokiness going on here. I guess I was expecting more smoke to help pull in the sweet fruity esters.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Sparrow, 6/20/14
Aroma: An aroma of smoked malts, some sweet malts, caramel, hints of meat, and some fruit
Appearance: It pours an orange color with a frothy white head and some medium lace
Flavor: Smokey, and more meaty than the aroma, with some underlying fruity/malty sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it has average-plus carbonation, and a dry, smokey finish
Overall Impression: Resisting the urge to make a joke about a certain similarly named app. This is a nice rauch. It hits the requisite marks for the style. I thought the underlying sweetness provided a pretty nice balance to the smoke flavors. The carbonation hurts the drinkability a bit, but that's only a small issue.
