33cl Bottle. Brewed 08/07. Trade with HenrikB. Pours dark ruby amber with a small creamy white head and lacings. Nose is dark fruit, caramel and molasses and a vague oxidation underneath. Vinous flavor - dark fruit, liquorice , caramel and a clearer note of cellar. Smooth and full bodied. Probably really good when fresh!

330ml bottle, house beer at Afspanning ‘t Waagstuk. Pours a clear, dark brown body with ruby highlights, hazy last pour. Decent beige head, reduced to a patchy surface. Smell of dark malts with yeasty fruitiness beneath. Lots of dried fruits in flavour together with brown malts. Bittersweet alcohol to the ending. Oily palate. Well made, and pleasing despite of all the sweetness (Antwerpen, 28.04.2011).

bottle@Waagstuk: bit sweet with a deep, full dark malt taste which is followed by ripe dark fruits (emphasis on figs) which blossoms with a slight dark chocolate finish, hint of toffee, worth getting if you are in ‘t Waagstuk which is the only place where you can get this if I am not mistaken, if you look only at the black of the drawing on the bottle from a distance, it kind of looks like an eel

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a medium dark tan head. The aroma is very sweet and very complex with notes of fruit, prunes, chocolate, wood, balsamico, and spices. The flavor is very sweet and again very complex with notes of caramel, dark fruits, leaning towards being over ripe, combines with notes of prunes, chocolate, yeast, wood, and spices, before the alcohol comes along and dominated for a while before a dry slightly bitter alcohol, fruity, and quite spicy finish sets in. The alcohol leaves a slight burn in the throat. Nice.

Ruby red color, good beige head. Wood, paper and subdued licoric in the aroma. Sweetish with grassy hops, licorice and cream fudge. Someway also fruity but alcoholic.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, orangey brown with a gigantic, dense and retentive, beige head - shaving foam style. Vinous aroma with lots of dried fruit and port notes. Distinct, full body with lots of raisin notes and roasted malts. A very warming alcohol in the finish. 020507

Huge offwhite head; hazy dark red barely translucent body with carbonation. Sweet alcoholic licorice aroma with chocolate notes, slightly unbalanced. Deep sweet bitterish cinnamon and licorice taste, again somewhat off balance. Dry spicy fruity aftertaste. Alcohol heat, and some taste as well. Quite nice, but far from perfect. (0.33l bottle at ’t Waagstuk, Antwerp. Bottle says it’s brewed by Bios Ertvelde, but looks just like the one in the picture.)
