Pour is a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is full of doughy pale malts and a nice creamy yeast. Flavor is grassy malts nice a nice hop that survived the journey. Finish is as rich as an ale and leaves a bit of honey malt. This was a pretty solid unfiltered lager. No wet paper bag or skunk, this is full of bready malt and a nice hoppy backbone.

Draft. Clear golden color, medium white head. Aroma of light honey, fresh hay. Taste is earthy citrus and straw. Rerate at Churchkey courtesy of craftycarl21, thanks! Aroma is more peppery and dusty, taste cleaner and crisper. Really nice.

I can certainly taste the butter in this beer. Pours amber with good head and lacing. Grainy and buttery with some sour finish. A good session beer. Tap at Churchkey.

Pours a deep amber-orange color. It’s somewhat hazy, maybe medium hazy, not that "medium hazy" really means anything to anyone besides me. The head is a touch yellow. It puffs up big and pretty thick but fades away after a minute, a bit like a hefe. The aroma is malty and pleasant. Nice doughy malt flavor with a touch of caramel. Reminds me of the Cismontane single malt beers that I’ve been working through. The taste has a good dose of malt sweetness, though it still finishes fairly clean with a very light grassy note. It’s a relatively rich German lager. Less hoppy than expected. Smooth feel, full for the strength. Solid beer. Easy to drink and satisfying. Not terribly dramatic but the malt flavor is very nice.

500ml bottle. Unfiltered orange-tan body. Big, creamy, white head. Kind of an oddball beer. Earthy, chewy malt, maybe a hint of amber malt, noble hops. Not that impressive of an offering. A touch more bitter than most Franconian beers, but the balance or finesse isn’t there. Some off undertones. Drinks easy enough, just can’t get over the grainy, off tones. Disappointing offering from a brewery I hold in high regard.

Whole Foods, Bowery 50cl ($6): Pours clouded amber with a relatively small head. Aroma is light lemon and some caramel malts. Taste is slightly sweet. It is extremely smooth, with the exact amount of body necessary to make it extremely sessionable. Nice amount of light hoppy bitterness towards the finish. Mild aftertaste. Pretty dope beer.

Purchased at Charleston Beer Exchange in Charleston, SC; enjoyed while hanging out in my hotel room, listening to the ocean, watching the Celtics vs. Heat game while staying in Myrtle Beach, SC. Being a fan of the band, I just couldn’t pass this one up. Appearance is a cloudy dark gold with a thin, choppy white head. Aroma of German lager yeast, as well as bready malts, states unfiltered on the bottle and it smells like it. Taste is pretty good, yeast comes out as the prominent ingredient, sweetness from the malt, standard premium lager flavor. If I found this again I’d probably gift it to a metal head friend.
