Pounder: Briney, lime and bread crust aroma. Hazy golden, thick head with no retention. Lemon, subtle dandelion. Delayed biscuit finish. Light body, easy carbonation. Quite nice and refreshing.

Bottleshare at Leighton’s Gaff. Thanks to Leighton. Light haze on this paleish gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is thin, fairly dry and has decent fine minerally carbonation. Thin dry malts. Very tangy mid, getting toward sour. Lemony fruits lead to a tart and crisp finish. Bit of edge on this one for my palate.

Bottle shared in London - picked up in the US. Pours clear yellow with a slender, foamy white head. Soft zesty lemon in the nose, some lemon candies, dried wheat. Light sweet flavour with nips of honey, lightly tart lemon, dry hay. Light bodied with spritzy carbonation. Clean finish, with some further tangy lemon candies, mild wheaty notes, hints of grass. Drinks pretty good.

Bottle split at Bespin (farewell ?), thanks to Leighton, 08/12/16. Golden orange with a moderate off white head. Nose is pissy lemon, citric funk, straw, grains, bready notes, yeast, balsa wood. Taste comprises green apple, light acidic qualities, citric tinged straw, sweet and sour sing song, lemon rind, damp hay, wood must. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Pretty average for style.

Bottle at Leighton’s place. 8/12/2016. Many thanks to Leighton for this one . A very pale yellow coloured pour with a fine white head. Aroma is pale grains, oxidised, little paper, grass, hay, corn. Little tangy apple of the nose. Flavour is composed of, light grains, straw, apple, pithy lemon, apricot, light hay. Palate is crisp, tangy, light refreshing, highish carbonation. Weird one.

Tap at at Julian’s, Providence. It pours clear golden with a small white head. The nose is fresh, pale bread, cracker, light barnyard and natural yoghurt. The taste is crisp, tart, quite lactic, spoiled yoghurt, some cheesecake, lime, zesty lemon and decent acidity with a short, dry finish. A bit more lactic than I would prefer, but still OK. Passable Berliner.

Draught at Bukowski’s Inman, 9/4/15.
Hazy medium-yellow golden body is well-carbonated and topped by a white head that fades to cover.
Lactic acid is quite straightforward in the nose as wheat dryness further emphasizes the crisp, bright, grainy aroma. Some breadiness, yogurt and just the faintest bit of caramel-honey with no alcohol or flaws.
Again, a very straightforward, respectable example with moderate sourness from the lactic acid and a chewy, wheat-like texture with appropriate carbonation and wateriness, good attenuation and crispness and lactic acid and bready, cereal grains lingering.
