Rich and full bodied, our Chinquapin Chestnut Porter is sure to please fans of more robust beer styles. Every batch of Chinquapin Chestnut Porter is made with molasses and a heaping portion of real chestnuts brewed with a blend of dark malts for a roasted richness with hints cocoa and coffee. As a thank you to the tree that makes the smooth, nutty taste of our porter possible, a portion of the proceeds from Chinquapin Chestnut Porter are donated to The American Chestnut Foundation.

12oz bottle. Brown-black body. Big, frothy, beige head. Kind of an oily odd aroma, hints of infection? Its not overboard, but the infected side is there, adding some unwanted hot, sour tones. Middle of the road beyond that. Disappointing, especially at the premium price point all these new breweries are charging.

Keg at Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours a clear dark amber with a large foamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of nuts and honey. The taste is nuts, caramel, hints of roasted malts. Medium bodied, low carbonation.

Very nutty. Mahogany pour with great head and lacing. More like a nutty brown than a porter though. A similar grain profile as their other beers. Medium bitter finish. Tap at brewpub.

Draft at the Leesburg Flower & Garden Festival. Poured a slightly hazy, dark brown color with a small, wispy tan head. Aroma was notes of toasted nuts, with some light chocolate and a bit of roasted malt notes. Flavor was roasted nutty character - light chocolate character. Pretty refreshing and my first beer from this brand new brewery. Looking forward to trying their other offerings.
