Sampled at the 2014 Untapped festival in Fort Worth. Pours a cloudy golden amber with a white head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has lots of sweet caramel and dark sweet grains with a big of grass. Flavor has sweetness throughout with notes of cookie, toffee, caramel and grains.

2011 bottle. Pours cloudy copper gold with a small creamy white head leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is bready malt and floral hop. Medium mouthfeel with a dry hop and caramel malt with light dry finish. A good old ale from Independence.

6/26/2009 Received in trade from TexIndy and RickSawyer thanks for the opportunity to try this brew. I actually had one bottle of this break in a shelving incident so I’m glad I had multiple bottles. This review is the 2007 Vintage and it has been in my cellar for about a year. Pours a clear medium to dark copper color with a good sized bubbly off white head that sticks around for a while. Aromas of caramel and light citrus come to the forefront. Slight alcohol and a twinge of biscuit round things out. Smells decent, but smells malty sweet, very little hop on the nose. The taste is sweet caramel and a light fruitiness. Its really malty sweet almost to the point of cloying. There’s a strange twang in the background that I can’t quite identify its almost metallic or phenolic luckily it doesn’t stick around long enough to ruin this completely. Slight alcohol burn in the finish. Carbonation is medium, mouthfeel is sticky, body is medium to thick. This one has some issues. It could be my fault for sitting on this bottle for 2 years, but as is this isn’t that good. Its heavy on the malt without enough hops to balance the sweetness. That strange taste doesn’t help much either. I’d love to give a fresh bottle a try.

2006 vintage bomber pours out clear deep copper with thin off white head. The aroma is pretty fruity with raisins, prunes and dates along with a mild sweet malt note, some boozy heat, cherry hard candy and an echo of chocolate malts. The taste starts with smooth slick sweet malts very quickly running into a robust level of dark fruitiness from prunes, raisins, red wine and figs. The dark fruitiness rolls over into the finish revealing notes of sweet malts, molasses, brown sugar and a sense of caramel candy. This ’06 still hasn’t hit its peak. Good stuff.

2006 bottle from ericandersnavy. Thanks much! Pours a hazy reddish amber with a slight beige head. Aromas of dark fruit and bread/toffee. Something like a dessert cake with spice. Near full body with moderate carbonation. Flavor is a bit aged, with lots of raisin/date/plum flavors, some caramel/toffee and enough hop bitter to offset the sweet a bit. A few more years and this might have turned into a Gales equivalent. There is a bit of heat. Good brew. Good old brew!

2006 Bottle. Pours with a large, off-white, foamy head over a bronze body. Aroma of currants, rotting oranges, caramel, butterscotch, yeast, figs, raisins, plums, and sweet berries. Nearly cloyingly sweet. Taste is metallic, dark rotting fruits, bitter orange and not very good. Fizzy and dry. 9.3% is well hidden.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of KAggie97. Pours a hazy amber golden with a small, off-white head. Aroma dominated by overripe fruit. Medium body, some fruit and yeast and a somewhat tired feel to it. Some berry-like accents. No real bitterness. 190408
