Tap at brewery. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma is roasted rye, minor citrus. Flavor is roasted malt, bitter hint of citrus, light vanilla, light caramel. Solid.

Draft at the source. Pretty much black, brown head. Aroma of coffee grounds. Taste is smooth and easy to drink for 8%, good combo of soft roast and pine.

Charcoal nose. Mahogany, medium head. Rich charcoal flavor, pine accents nearly as strong. Full body, a little hot. Pretty good.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a dark brown color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, rye, nutty and toasty notes. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, rye, citrus hops. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness.
