This delicious creation was truly a product of creativity, ingenuity and luck. In the summer of 2013 we took a test batch of our sessional sour summer ale, Provincial, that didn’t quite hit gravity, and decided to have some fun with it! We added a heavy dose of raspberries. The end result was so delicious, we decided to recreate it! This delightfully tart fruit beer is refreshing, with a citrusy raspberry aroma which transitions to a subtlety sweet and tart finish.

I had a couple of ~2 oz samples at the Boulevardia Taps & Tastes in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is hazy pink golden with a smallish white pinkish head. The aroma is tart sour raspberry, bit of general cheese funk. The taste is a nice blend of the bright raspberry fruit, which is tart sour and sweet fruit, and the yeast Brett notes of earth, funk and hay. The palate is light bodied, active carbonation and a funk sweet raspberry fruit finish. Nice one.

Bottle - Raspberry and feet. Cloudy pink and orange with a thin white head. Sweet raspberry and a nice yeasty tartness. Not the best, but nice.

From a bottle served at the Funkwerks beer dinner at Birch and Barley, DC. Pours a cloudy pale reddish gold with a pinkish head. Aroma of rhubarb. Flavors of raspberry with a mild tart cherry note. Smooth, clean finish. Very tasty.

Draught at Funkwerks Brewery in Fort Collins, on April 6, 2014.Cloudy pink color, pink head. Sweet, raspberry scent. Acidic, raspberry, fruity taste. Fizzy mouthfeel, low bitterness.
