Veritas has been an ongoing experiment of the relationship between fruit, Brettanomyces and barrel aging. Veritas 018 will be a redux of Veritas 015, which took home gold medals from the 2015 Great American Beer Festival (Wood and Barrel Aged Beer), The 2015 Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer (FOBAB – Wild Beers w/ Fruit), and The 2015 San Diego International Beer Festival (other sour beer category).Veritas 018 was aged in oak with Peaches and Nectarines from Masumoto Farms as well as added Apricots. Delicate notes of apricots and peaches, oaky wood, and a balanced tartness come through with a lively character from the Brett present throughout the experience.

Sample. Almost clear golden, small head. Citric woody nose with lots of nectarine and peach. Sweet and sour with medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Peach and nectarine, sour wood. Low bitterness.

Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is floral, some mild tartness, funk and mild bretty tones. Flavour is tart berries, some funk and mild acidity. Kind of bretty, but with some earthy tones too. At first not much, but the more sips you have, the bigger it grows.

Bottle pour, #4403, gifted and split with Tommy. Cheers, and congrats! Excellent beer worth celebrating with. Bright orange appearance. Tart, ripe stone fruit and funky nose. Somewhat intense sour orange fruit, and a subtle dry oak. Big sour stone fruit finish. Sourness 9/10. Long full complex palate. Love this.

Bottle shared by Tom, thanks! Pours a slightly hazy light amber orange with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dank tart light fruits with a bit of grapefruit and a bit of funky oak. Flavor has sour grapefruit and light tropical fruits with a bit of light funk and straw backing.

750ml bottle. Bottle #4319. Tart, funky and oaky with some bretta, sourness, nectarine, peaches and hints of stuffy leathery woody notes. Interesting, quite funky and sour.
