The day of resurrection is at hand, the blade still sharp. Our longest standing beacon of utility, this Rye India Pale Ale invokes the vital tenets of balance not by muting flavors, but by elevating them. A European crystal malt backbone is lifted by the sweet pop of Riverbend Malt’s Wren Abruzzi Rye. Chinook and Columbus hops provide a grapefruit flavor up-front curtained by the powerful aroma of berry and fresh pineapple, thanks to an exclusively modest Mosaic dry-hopping. Finish your work, wipe your brow, and reap this delicious reward. For who knows when it shall perish.

In the can @ home, thanks to jcnielsen for sending! Pours a touch hazy, burnt orange appearance with a big cream colored head. The aroma is herbal, spicy, has some grapefruit and some dankness. A little bit of candy and tropical fruit in the nose. Medium body. Fairly low sweetness. Moderately low bitterness. Quite spicy from the rye and hops. Dank and peppery. Clean and easy to drink. Solid brew.

Sample at the taproom. Clear copper-gold color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually to a film. Strings of lacing on the glass. Piney hops, citrus and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of resiny hops, citrus and rye malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a piney hops and rye aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Sample in a flight at the brewery. Pours a slightly hazy brown, with a thin head. Dominant rye bread aroma, with some earthy and pine notes, and an undercurrent of pineapple. Low, citrusy sweetness, and an aggressive, but smooth and pleasant, bitterness. Medium to heavy body, syrupy, sticky, and a little harsh. Overall, this is not the most aromatic beer, but the flavor is fantastic. Strangely sessionable. Wish I’d had a full glass of this.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear deep amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dank pine and a bit of onion with a rye backbone. Flavor has more rye and bread but still a dank And pine finish.
