Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter. 2020 can and consumed on 02/15/2020.
Appearance is shown in the picture.
Aroma: caramel toned breadiness with dried dark fruits, sweet leather, light notes of tobacco and smooth maple sweetness strolling about nicely
Flavor: meshes all those noted aromas into a fine malty sweetness in an earthy to bready sort of way; quick finish of leathery dry to dark fruity notes with some maple
Texture: medium bodied; surely this is a sipper, good smoothness along the tongue with appropriate dryness to slow down that smooth as I had hoped it would
Overall: an absolutely great idea to add maple to a barleywine and brew it as well as Four Quarters did. By all means, I would definitely return to this.
*edit - how does one brew a 11.4% maple barleywine and not have any "heat" and nothing cloying to it after a month of release?
To Brian Eckert, Four Quarters misses you cuz Four Quarters doesn't brew stuff like this anymore.
