BOTTLE. Pitch black, espresso head. The aroma has some roast, and maybe chocolate, but harsh solvent like alcohols that that. Yep, the taste has no notes of imperial Stout (pardon me), and harsh boozy sharp bitterness - which hard to define. Not good at all.

Beer #6 of my #7000 Beer Celebration (seven beers on either side of the milestone beer). Super dark brown coloured body with an almost fully opaque deep black glow with some lighter browns coming in when held to a light, especially at an angle. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, deep licorice and anise with a heavy amount of vanilla, bitterness, some lactose and almost some burnt scents. Medium to Full-bodied; Super assertive roasted and burnt malt flavours with a lot of anise and licorice with a good deal of lactose and milky flavours right behind with a dose of grain, light grapes, a touch of permanent markers and the bitterness associated as well throughout. Aftertaste shows some light, almost thin, dry and creamy flavours that leave immediately and show a ton of bitterness from anise, alcohol and grain with a lot of vanilla and caster sugars right at the finish, all with some bitterness and somehow - a touch of smoothness as well. Overall, a robust and deep beer that shows too much funk and pungency and not enough soft/mellow-yet-complex flavours, especially after this age. It doesn't seem like a good beer to drink fresh and barely good when kept for ~2 years. I sampled this almost two year old bottle purchased from Costco in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 22-October-2016 for US$8,69 sampled at home in Washington on 26-August-2018.

Draft at Brewers Cask in Bmore. Bighead, sticks around. Aroma is ashy, dry paper black malt, some hops and a fruity yeast. A bit do dry in the aroma. Flavor, thankfully has some sugar, acidity that sticks around as well.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks kerenmk. Opaque black, tan head. Licorice, roast, cherries, alcohol, sweetish, slightly sourish, light nutty note, medium to full-bodied. Good.

Massive imperial stout, roasty and bitter but also syrupy sweet and slick, with a candied date and chocolate back end that comes close to growing cloy as it warms. Hazelnuts and reclaimed chestnut provide a woodsy, somewhat acrid backbone, not altogether pleasant, while the cherries never really come into play. Slack carbonation leads to a weak feel. Beautiful beer, however, black as oil with a modest brown head and tons of lacing. Okay, but a bit askew for an impy stout.

Pours a rich black with a thick dark brown head, some lacing. Aroma is tobacco and molasses: molacco! Flavor is similar, too far to the extreme bitter for me. Very thin for a stout, nearly porter-like. Okay beer.
