Reviewed from notes.
Can to becher glass.
Appearance: very dark brown close to black in the middle but also dark red hues close to the bottom of the glass with a three finger off white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: mixed citrusy fruity to piney danky hops with some baker's chocolate and coffee bitterness
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a bitter to roasty and sweet quality; finishes bitter, roasty dry and a touch of sweetness
Texture: medium bodied - maybe just a bit under; slightly sessionable; some smoothness and somewhat weak compare to other black IPA's in it's palate wrecking capabilities
Overall: not a bad attempt at the style but not up there with the best ones.
