Loaded with roast and specialty malts, this Baltic Porter is a warming and indulgent beer perfect for cold winter months. Baltic Porters are traditionally fermented cold and slow with lager yeast to give a mellow feel to what would otherwise be an aggressive beer. We took no shortcuts in the production of this beer, opting for a traditional lager fermentation schedule and extended cold-maturation period. This helps to round off the sharp corners you might expect from a higher abv porter. As it warms up, Gabieta will evoke flavors of dark chocolate, figs, and maple syrup. Enjoy responsibly, this beer is dangerously drinkable!

Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: black in the pour and black in the glass with a thin cap of khaki foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: dark chocolate; dark fruits, woody spices, some vanilla, subtle milk chocolate and/or Belgian chocolate? hmmm...then a touch of maple syrup.
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet chocolatey/dark fruity and slightly maple-y quality flanked by a slight woody spicy bit; finishes mostly through the sweetness but seems quite even keeled
Texture: medium bodied, leaning towards being a sipper; good smoothness and mostly nothing distracting anywhere; good carb level
Overall: I liked this Baltic porter and it made a great Winter's night when I had it.
