Reviewed from notes.
Can to thistle.
Appearance: dark ruddy amber color with a two and a half fingers of eggshell white foamy head which dissipated nicely and left some light lace
Aroma: clean caramel malts with a touch of smoke and peat; subtle rounded earthy character with some dark fruity esters
Flavor: melds the prior noted aromas to a fine variety of different sweet aspects; finishes semi-caramel-like with rounded earthy to smoky tones
Texture: medium bodied, leaning towards being sessionable; good smoothness with barely anything distracting anywhere
Overall: this might be one of the best Scotch ales I've had by a Vermont brewer though there aren't many - to be honest. I would return to this one!
