Can to tulip.
Appearance: bright orange cloudiness with a finger and a quarter of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: sweet apple to orangey and grapefruity hop tones underscored by a little bit of piney and earthy hops; big boozy coated clean caramel to biscuity malts
Flavor: melds the prior noted aromas together in a sweet to bittersweet hop leafy sort of way; finishes semi-boozy with some piney, orangey and light apple notes
Texture: medium to full bodied, this is a sipper; not very smooth as some sharpness from some hop bitterness came down to slay the tongue
Overall: I know this beer was to commemorate 14th Star's owner's final 999 days in the Army; however, no offense from one military vet to another but this beer could have been brewed with a little less bitterness in the feel unless there was something bittersweet to the Steve Gagner about leaving the Army, then again, maybe this was intentionally brewed that way? Hmmmm...
