‘Felt Like It’ Schankbier. Light in alcohol but not in flavor, this little 2.9% gem of a lager is perfect for those times you want to sit back, hang out, and settle into a proper session. While many modern-day schankbiers & leichtbiers are brewed with Pilsner malt, we instead chose to use Isaria 1924; a malt made from old school German heirloom barley. While more difficult to work with than modern barley varieties, the robust bready qualities of this malt help lend more character to a small beer like this one.
‘Felt Like It’ underwent a lengthy multi-step mash process and received a single decoction to help elevate the beer’s malt character, foam stability and mouthfeel. We hopped this tiny lager with the last of our Tettnang-grown Mittelfrüh, which we find to be brighter and less herbal than the more common Halltertau-grown Mittelfrüh. Being ever conscious of a small beer needing body and mouthfeel, we fermented ‘Felt Like It’ cold and slow with one of our favorite lager strains known for accentuating malt then spunded it at the end of fermentation for 100% natural carbonation. Finally, as a nod to the kellerbiers of Franconia, ‘Felt Like It’ was lagered for a short three week period before being packaged.
We’re getting notes of fresh bauernbrot, toasted hazelnuts, freshly struck match, subtle lemon peel, clover, & riding bikes through the Franconian countryside.

Straw and a hint of lemon. Pours clear dark golden with decent head. Crisp finish. I don't know what a Schanbier is but this is pleasant. Tap at brewery.
