West Coast Double Red
Here we go again, trying to sell you this delicious, one of a kind, double dry-hopped west coast double red ale. It’s MALTY! Like dark caramel and bread crust! It’s HOPPY! Like grapefruit and pine needles! It’s STRONG and BITTER but also BALANCED and SNAPPY! IT’S COMPLEX! And like, not to brag, but past renditions of this very beer have won a SILVER MEDAL AT THE 2024 GABF and also a GOLD MEDAL AT THE 2025 WORLD BEER CUP and it has its very own article in CRAFT BEER & BREWING MAGAZINE and yet…it’s still somehow hard to sell to all of you reading this. Despite living in a region where overly hopped ambers and reds and “ESB”s once ruled the craft beer landscape! And where Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale is still tracked down every November! WE JUST DON’T EVEN KNOW ANYMORE! WHAT KIND OF NICHE MARKET IS THIS?! So yeah, here it is, in all its GLORY. You, YES! YOU! can buy one of the best red ales in the entire world, right here, right now, and probably for the next couple of months too.

On tap at Cloudburst on Shilshole, pours a clear amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is full of rich, woody, resinous hops, a touch of pine, and dry bready, caramel mat. Flavour is much the same, with big chewy caramel malt, woody resinous hops, a touch of pine. Nicely balanced, maybe not as hoppy as I want (despite the 65 IBUs). Very well-constructed.
