The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours a clear brown with an off-white head. Aroma is nuts, plenty of toffee, some wood, hints of citrus, and some caramel. Taste is sweet, but not excessively so. If this is a combination of a brown ale and an IPA, this goes after the English style more than the American. Toffee is, of course, very present. citrus is extremely light. Bitterness is also comparatively low. That said, this was a pleasant drink and was well balanced.

Draught @ Black Door Aroma is fruity and malty with caramel. Flavour has sweet toffee andy, fruity hops, melted brown sugar and some nuts. Also some sweet licorice. Feels heavy. Sweet, but still rather nice combination of heavy maltiness and resiny hops.

(Keg at Black Door, 20140606) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, molasses and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, malts, molasses and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, malty and bitter. A pleasant combination of maltiness and bitterness.

Appearance: Amberish color with a tan head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Toffee, fruity and hoppy.
Palate: Medium + body. Tad sweet and an ok bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Caramel, toffee, fruity and pleasant hoppy.
Overall impression: Not a typical brown ale, and that is good.

On keg at Coach and Horses, Dronfield. Deep brown body, lasting white head. Not much in the way of aroma, but taste is a nice bitter caramel orangey citrus, nutty and long in the finish.
