Medici is an amalgamation of an India Pale Ale and an American Brown Ale. Nutty, toffee malt flavours and a caramel sweetness are balanced by a robust bitterness provided by Australian Galaxy and British Challenger hops. These provide a spicy, cedar aroma with a gentle citrus note. It has a finish of raisins, hints of liquorice and a dry herbal woody bitterness.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours a clear brown with an off-white head. Aroma is nuts, plenty of toffee, some wood, hints of citrus, and some caramel. Taste is sweet, but not excessively so. If this is a combination of a brown ale and an IPA, this goes after the English style more than the American. Toffee is, of course, very present. citrus is extremely light. Bitterness is also comparatively low. That said, this was a pleasant drink and was well balanced.

Draught @ Black Door Aroma is fruity and malty with caramel. Flavour has sweet toffee andy, fruity hops, melted brown sugar and some nuts. Also some sweet licorice. Feels heavy. Sweet, but still rather nice combination of heavy maltiness and resiny hops.

On keg at Coach and Horses, Dronfield. Deep brown body, lasting white head. Not much in the way of aroma, but taste is a nice bitter caramel orangey citrus, nutty and long in the finish.
