Medici is an amalgamation of an India Pale Ale and an American Brown Ale. Nutty, toffee malt flavours and a caramel sweetness are balanced by a robust bitterness provided by Australian Galaxy and British Challenger hops. These provide a spicy, cedar aroma with a gentle citrus note. It has a finish of raisins, hints of liquorice and a dry herbal woody bitterness.

On tap @ Haandfest 2014. This is a clear deep amber red, almost over deep that it's a little brownish. It has a small head as well that's lacing quite elegantly down the glass off-white in color. Biscuity nose. Tones of chocolate wrapper and brown malts. Not extreme but quite pleasant. It tastes quite nice. A tad sweet with hints of licorice, more brown malts, chocolate and chocolate wrapper. There is also a faint roastiness in this. Lots of flavor going on. Gliding oily in the mouth with a soft prickling carbo level. I really enjoyed this one. 24.05.2014

Draught @ Van Moll Brewpub. Nice red-brown color, medium sized beige head. Aroma is malts, a bit fruity. Taste malts, lightly hops, more fruity than I had expected, perhaps indeed a hint of cedar. A bit lively carbonation, decent body.

On tap at The Old Courthouse in Buxton, pours a hazy dark amber brown with a small beige head. Nose is fairly light, with toasted nuts, piney hops, and biscuity malt. Flavour is slightly sweet, with dark fruity notes, piney hops, and toasted nuts. Sweeter than most brown ales I've had. Decent, but too sweet.

4oz pour thanks to the great people at GBD in Washington DC. Poured a dark brown, slightly hazy with an off-white head. Aroma was lots of pine citrus notes, caramel and nutty toffee character. Flavor was not nearly as citrus hop, had more of an earthy character - lots of toffee and nutty brown ale qualities. Pretty light and easy to drink for being 7.4%.
