Location: Draft at World of Beer - Baltimore, 11/2/14, Rating #4040

Aroma: The aroma is floral and a little citrus, with some light spice, and light roast
Appearance: It has a black pour with a beige head and some fairly heavy lace
Flavor: Component-wise, the flavor is similar to the nose, it is lightly sweet and light bitter
Palate: This one is clean and easy drinking, soft and smooth, dry and roasty finish
Overall Impression: 4040: Double Perfect Vision! Is that the perfect version of the double vision you get from drinking 4040 beers? We may never know. My first beer from Union, and I actually found it to be pretty enjoyable. Glad to have tried this beer, it is pretty tasty.

2L growler pours a murky brown with some creamy, beige head. Nose has some nice fruit and citrus, orange, mild malt, some citra. Flavor is nice, citrus, some tropical fruit, mild soap, a little yeast. Bright finish. Real nice.

Growler shared by maniac at the DC Local Tasting. Dark brown with off-white to slightly light tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, light funk, pine. Tastes of pine, roast, dark fruit, caramel. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation. I got more black IPA out of this than saison.

Glad to hear that the reasoning behind this one wasn’t selling out, hiring a white girl and switching from underground rap to pop music. Pours dark brown with good head and lacing. Light roast. Light citrus. Medium bitter. Growler thanks to someone at tasting.

Full draft pour at Union. Poured a dark color, pretty much black, perhaps dark brown around the edges of the glass. This one had a small off-white head. Aroma was notes of roasted malts, some citrus notes. Yeast notes - interesting. Flavor was bitter malts - almost like lightly roasted coffee - some funky bitterness. Touch of hops. Pretty good, albeit a little strange.
