Midnight Blue is a stout with blueberries and lactose
While Midnight Blue looks more black than blue, the reddish-purple glow seen when illuminated lets you know that there is more going on with this beer than you would expect upon first glance. We took one of our favorite stout bases and gave it a special treatment with the addition of lactose and blueberries. As fruit juice ferments it will often lend a faint tart character to a beer. The addition of lactose here brings extra body and a bit of sweetness to make sure the beer stays balanced and nuanced. You’re first met with flavors of rich baker's chocolate and coffee. As the beer begins to warm, the blueberry aspect becomes much more pronounced and takes on a blueberry brownie character.

Can to becher glass.
Appearance: dark brown/dark red to almost black color with an off-white frothy head about two and a half fingers worth and that settled off at a nice place and left a little bit of lace
Aroma: sweet to tart blueberry tones up front mixing with some milk chocolate and dark chocolate tones and a subtle black coffee roastiness underneath
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas but leaves out the coffee part and ends up showing a sweet to roasty tone up front with a delicate tartness underneath; finishes about the same way
Texture: medium bodied; somewhat sessionable; some smoothness with a slight tart tickle along the tongue but it's super faint and non-bothersome
Overall: pretty nicely done blueberry stout I would return to.
