Reviewed from notes.
Growlette brought home and poured into a nonic glass.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a finger and a half's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: slight notes of black coffee with some dark malts, keen roastiness; light notes of dark chocolate; ever so slight note of ash
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a dry sweet to roasty quality with a light bitterness coming in and out; finishes dry, sweet and roasty
Texture: light to medium bodied - maybe a touch closer to medium; some sessionability; some smoothness with the expected dryness coming back; good carb level
Overall: pretty nicely done no frills sort of stout for the most part. Don't ask me why they retired this, all it needed was that "ashy" scent taken out of the aroma for this to be a stellar one.
